Jota has returned to first-team training after missing over four months of football with a calf injury.
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is back in training after lengthy injury lay-off.
The former Wolves player has missed 27 games so far of the 2022–23 season due to hamstring and calf injuries, respectively, sustained early in the season.
Jota is one of 14 players of the first team who have missed games this season due to injury.
Together, the 14 have missed 109 possible appearances in 2022/2023.
The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, and Ibrahima Konate are among the key players currently unavailable to Liverpool.
On February 3, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated that Jota was making progress with his recovery:
“Diogo Jota had a full session with the team this week but then the next day had again a rehab session, not because of the session the day before, it was just part of the plan. I think he will be back in normal training next week.”
Jota may now be available for the Reds’ crucial Merseyside derby match against Everton on Monday night after making further progress.
Liverpool is in desperate need of a victory after starting 2023 without a single Premier League victory so far.
